I have
been involved in teaching over the last six years and that has drawn my
attention to the notion of practice. Put very roughly, practice is the way we
go about things. Within this course there are shared practices that are
negotiated with others. This week was a quite experience for me. The task about
sample project report was a bit difficult.
Personally, it took from me more than five hours to read and comment on
it. I have learned a lot form it and now I’m feeling more confident with the
activities that I make for my students. Knowing about https://delicious.com camp up with an idea to
make students sharing links to each other. For example, every week one of the
students has to post one Educational link on delicious website and in the next
day he has to tell us about his experience. I think my students are really excited about
it. My reflection about this week led me
to include many listening activities to my class so it was useful that I
examine simultaneously the tools and the practice. In doing so, I could see
that certain my course mates’ links offered by some online tools were simply
not a part of my practice. I am looking
forward to seeing what am I going to learn for the fourth week.
Finally, I would love to thank all my course mates including Mr.Sean for all the help.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI like your idea on using Delicious where students have to share a link and talk about their experience. A good way to use the site. I'm sure our students are excited about it and in addition, they have something to learn. Keep up your good work.

M.Annusha
Thanks M.Annusha for your comment and nice to meet you..

Hello Salah,
ReplyDeleteIt was really nice to look through your reflections on Week 3. It seems that we all have very similar impression and go through some difficulties at some point.
I was so happy to find out your viewpoint over practice as I have been talking over it as well in my blog and my reflections on Week3. We can speak a lot over theory, possible implementation of certain tools, however we need to try things in practice and understand what else needs to be done to attain the best result.
I agree with you that the task to review a sample project was pretty tough and time-consuming. Yet, I am sure we have all learnt a lot from this review and we have an idea now over what we are expected to do.
I like your idea of asking students to share their links via delicious.com. Have you already asked them to do this and how successful were they?
You have also mentioned that you have already implemented some listening activities in your lessons. Could you tell me which particular ones and what were students excited about?
Wish you luck in everything you do or will do in future and it's really nice to know you, Salah! :)
Jurga.
Hey Jurga,
DeleteMany thanks for your comment. My students will start to post their links on Delicious next week and I will definitely let you know how it will go. About listening activities, I started using some Educational movies and it was so useful...I recommend you to try it
Take care and enjoy your time
