week 2

The two weeks that I spent studying on the web skills course undoubtedly contain the most valuable moments of my time so far. I spent the majority of my time in this week learning the new skills and teaching what I have learned to my students and my colleagues at my school. I have also learned about new teaching skills and new ideas of teaching. The course mates that I discuss with them every day unquestionably the most eager teachers that I have met. It’s incredibly exciting and rewarding being able to learn about many new engines that give me an easy way to search whatever I need. Fortunately, in this week I had the chance to read about different teacher’s method which it shows you those teachers are so enthusiastic about teaching.  Not only are they great what they have written, but they are also unbelievably enjoyable to feel that they are round. One aspect that I like about this week was about the two tasks (Try some of the search engines or portals to see which ones work best for academic searches and for information for your class and ABCD objective). It gave me a lot of support to try new methods for my students.  This week, I did a workshop for my students to teach them more about how to use academic searches. I can tell they were so happy and so optimistic about their future when they knew about http://www.noodletools.com. I realized that I can do great projects for my organization with simple ideas such as the idea I learned from Jorge in his plog.  I’m really looking forward to learning more and more.  Thanks Mr. Sean

  1. Dear Saleh,

I'm happy that you are the first one to start applying what we learned from the course.
I was planning to organize a workshop for students coming weeks. So it would be amazing if you share what you did or the content or the way you delivered it and with whom ? So what were the ABCD objectives of the workshop ?

    Go ahead and best wishes

    1. Thanks Warda,

The workshop went very well and my students felt so happy with it. I think they realized that can learn Not from a teacher but form different ways. I recommend you to do it for your students. What all you need just a computer with Internet access. Good luck with it and let me know how it will go?

It's really nice to meet you Warda

    2. Morning Salah,
I hope you are doing well and spending a nice weekend.
It is nice hearing from you.
I will do my best though we don't have an internet room for more than 30.

      Nice to know you too.

  3. Hi Salah

I was surprised by what you have written on your blog of this week, when you mention that you already had the chance to teach to your students what you had learnt from our course. That is a quick transfer.

As for me, I have not had time to work on that transfer, yet. Maybe, I should try!

  4. Hi Salaah,

I enjoyed reading your reflection on this blog and I'm glad to be one participant of Web-skills course. We have learned a lot from Sean and from the discussions on Nicenet and still we have more time for learning, sharing ideas and experiences.

I love your idea of conducting a workshop and sharing academic search engines within your working place. I'm planning to conduct a similar one at my university next week, too.

    All the best

  5. Hi Salah.

It's nice to see that learning and applying both you are doing simultaneously. It surely has made me thinking how all the learnings through this wonderful course could be put into practice in my context,

Like you, I also enjoyed ABCD objective task and websearcing task. ABCD style can make our teaching approach finely tuned and focussed. The highlight of ABCD style, I must say is its simpicity in designing. The Noodletools has become my favourite as well. I love to know in detail how you organised the worksop on websearching, I mean duration, prresentation procedure, number and profiles of participants etc. so that I can do the same in my context.

    Cheers!
