Week 10

Hello all my dear course mates,
"I am so fortunate to have had the experience to study this course. Spending time in this course has by far been the best thing of this year ever.

This course was school changing experience.  Every week was a new adventure that was completely different from what I have studied before.  While I was taking this course, my friends often ask me what my favorite memory from this course, but that is so hard to answer because there are so many! However, learning how to integrate technology into my class, writing a plan report and getting the opportunity to write a weekly reflection on the blog at the top of my ‘favorites list’.  Mr. Sean was a perfect instructor and was so patient with us.   The harmony environment on discussion that we had was completely different from anything I had ever experienced, which is why I loved it so much.  This course was the first course for me to study with people from different nationalities, and because of this I was able to learn so much and get to know more about different technics. My course mates were incredibly helpful and made the process less stressful and overwhelming.  I hope everyone gets the opportunity to study this course.

Week 9

I cannot believe that we are in week 9. It’s really sad but at the same time it’s a great feeling of appreciation what I have learned from the past weeks.  One of the most helpful aspects of this week was summed up by this course outcome provided in the course description: apply the speaking process to develop student’s speaking using the technology tool that I’ve earned.  I had always felt that I could research and present information about a topic with relative ease for my students, however I wanted to improve my ability in teaching persuasively.  The week provided me with exercises and multiple opportunities to achieve this goal.  Writing a plan project was especially challenging to me I did not feel strongly about it one way or another.  This pushed me to really work harder and harder to understand more and more.  The improvements that I made in in this week were quite impressive.

Reading about the learning style for students was really useful.  Also, by the sheer volume of work that was assigned over the duration of this week, I became more and more comfortable with my teaching style.

Week 8

This week has helped me to improve my skills as a good teacher in many different ways.  I took all those week tasks with the hopes of improving my ability with technology.  First, I hoped that this week would allow me to create sits for my students which it did.  Second, I hoped that by practicing what I have learned, I would improve the speed in which it took me to complete all my assignments checking.  One more thing, writing a project plan was another challenging to me this week because I am not really good with reporting my student’s feedback. Sharing writing a project plan with a peer, it’s just brilliant and very helpful.  I feel this week has helped me achieve my goals.  Creating worksheets are really fun.   I am so proud of myself now and that because of this amazing course, however upon completing this week, I feel that my overall skill level has improved dramatically. Many thanks indeed for Mr. Sean for all wonderful course mates

Week 7

It’s feeling amazing that we are in week 7.This week was exceptional, extraordinary and unusual week. I really enjoyed all the tasks of this week. Reading articles about learner autonomy and the three articles about the one-computer classroom were relatively amazing. I learned a lot and shared videos and articles about learner autonomy on Padlet site. I am very excited and lucky working with Teresa on the final project plan.  I have started writing my project plan and I am trying my best to write what have learned from the past weeks. Reading about my course mate’s comments and their sharing are very useful. I really enjoyed those discussions and still talk to a lot my Colleagues at school.  What I really liked more this week about reading an article giving tips for classroom with using a computer. I learned different technics and I will definitely use them in my class, I hope for all my course mates and Mr.Sean a great time!

Week 6

Week 6 is one of the most unforgettable weeks for me. Unfortunately,   In Yemen the situation seems not quite quiet and unstable these days. Last week, the electricity pillars have been exploded and the Internet was down for two days.   It really drove me crazy and I felt obsoletely frustrated.  Although all the problems that I faced this week, I tried to pull myself together in order to focus on this week’s work.
Anyway, I have never used PowerPoint in my class and it was really challenging to me to create one.  I did really enjoy it a lot.  I think I will use it in my class for this term for the final oral exam. My students will do a presentation with the PowerPoint. I learned are that slides have to be concise, interactive, illustrated, numbered, informative, and not be read like a book.
Regarding to the final project Step 5:  Implement Technology Change in my Class, I think all the skills have studied so far the WebQuest Development, the PowerPoint Creation and the Alternative Assessment/ Rubrics Creation will be great step for finding interactive solutions for the problems that we face in our class. I am really looking forward to learning more and more.

Week 5

I recently finished all the assignments for this week. Our assignments were about assessment and to create rubrics which I have never used them before. It was a bit challenging for me, as much as I worked hard with these tasks as much as I enjoyed it and I felt very satisfied at the end. In this week I wanted to improve my skills in writing effective lesson plans which in somehow I did.
This week helped me to improve my knowledge in using technology in different areas. Creating a Rubric was challenging for me and took two days to understand the method and I do not know why? I guess my mind totally went blank that day.  In every task was given to me, I practiced it so that was extremely helpful to me. Solving problems for our students was a quite exciting and enjoyable step because last week I read most the problems that teachers indicated and I was looking forward to knowing how they will find the solutions.

I enjoyed this week as well as the previous weeks. Mr. Sean is a great instructor, and I would highly recommend this class to anyone. Also, I want to thank all my course mates who I learn from them a lot every week, I do really mean it and I wish to meet them face to face one day.

week 4

One of the biggest reasons why I want to share my experience in this week is the new things that I have learned so far. Each week, I feel that I am getting better and better. Each course mate is friendly, supportive, patient, and hard working. This made it incredibly easy for me to look forward to working and learning every day. To be honest, this week was the first time for me to write a technology- enhanced lesson plan and knew about Goggle drive. I shared it with my colleagues and they really liked it very much.  Reading about the three articles on the course website with learning different activities was relatively amazing and helpful. They made me to have new activities and new ideas which my students really enjoyed it. Sharing the problems that you face in your class such as student’s attitude, their laziness, lack of motivation…etc. On the other hand, reading the other course mate’s students problems made me feel more relief that I am not the one who has problems. I am very thankful for Mr. Sean who really helps me a lot to look forward.

Week 3

I have been involved in teaching over the last six years and that has drawn my attention to the notion of practice. Put very roughly, practice is the way we go about things. Within this course there are shared practices that are negotiated with others. This week was a quite experience for me. The task about sample project report was a bit difficult.  Personally, it took from me more than five hours to read and comment on it. I have learned a lot form it and now I’m feeling more confident with the activities that I make for my students. Knowing about https://delicious.com camp up with an idea to make students sharing links to each other. For example, every week one of the students has to post one Educational link on delicious website and in the next day he has to tell us about his experience.  I think my students are really excited about it.  My reflection about this week led me to include many listening activities to my class so it was useful that I examine simultaneously the tools and the practice. In doing so, I could see that certain my course mates’ links offered by some online tools were simply not a part of my practice.  I am looking forward to seeing what am I going to learn for the fourth week.
Finally, I would love to thank all my course mates  including Mr.Sean for all the help.

week 2

The two weeks that I spent studying on the web skills course undoubtedly contain the most valuable moments of my time so far. I spent the majority of my time in this week learning the new skills and teaching what I have learned to my students and my colleagues at my school. I have also learned about new teaching skills and new ideas of teaching. The course mates that I discuss with them every day unquestionably the most eager teachers that I have met. It’s incredibly exciting and rewarding being able to learn about many new engines that give me an easy way to search whatever I need. Fortunately, in this week I had the chance to read about different teacher’s method which it shows you those teachers are so enthusiastic about teaching.  Not only are they great what they have written, but they are also unbelievably enjoyable to feel that they are round. One aspect that I like about this week was about the two tasks (Try some of the search engines or portals to see which ones work best for academic searches and for information for your class and ABCD objective). It gave me a lot of support to try new methods for my students.  This week, I did a workshop for my students to teach them more about how to use academic searches. I can tell they were so happy and so optimistic about their future when they knew about http://www.noodletools.com. I realized that I can do great projects for my organization with simple ideas such as the idea I learned from Jorge in his plog.  I’m really looking forward to learning more and more.  Thanks Mr. Sean

Week 1

I started thinking a lot about improving the educational system where I teach in my institute. To be honest, this is the first time to be familiar with using blog. Exploring and Studying the first week of the Web skills course makes me realize the differences in the other educational standard and what you would find in my school. Using technology in education is such a gift not just for me even not-so-well-educated in my school seems they will know how to cope with schooling even in their old age and seem to possess broad knowledge about most things. This encourages me to seek more and continue so I can also be like them in the depth of my mind.

I hope to learn more in this course to play a part in shaping a strong and thriving education not just in my school but in all schools in Yemen.
Also, from my experiences at Institute where I currently teach, I’ve seen different ideas and cultures and I am interested in knowing more about them. From the first day in the introduction of this course, it offered me the opportunity to see the world from a different set of eyes. Besides that, I met with such amazing people like Mr. Sean and I knew other cultures which will definitely help me to extend the way of education. On the other hand, I will share with other teachers some of my ideas in a good way. I like to study in a new way and fortunately I can find it in this course because of the excellent standard of education.
When I finish this course in ten weeks, I hope to teach what I’ve learned to my colleagues and my students and I believe that I will be more an effective person in the educational environment. I think that to change the entire country, you have to change the way of education and the best way to do that is by influencing them right from their schools days.  I am looking forward to hearing from all of you soon
